How to Clean a Shower Head - The cleanliness of the bathroom is not only seen from the cleanliness of floors and walls, but also all the toiletries that are in it.

There is always dirt on the toiletries visible by naked eye from the outside. For instance in the shower or tub. Do not think the shower head (showerhead) free of bacteria because it can always drain the water. There is a type of bacteria that can be nested in the showerhead and can attack your lungs. Because the cleaning should be done routinely, though not visibly dirty showerhead.

For hand held showerhead that is or could be removed from the cradle, you can clean it in the following way.


1. Prepare the necessary tools and materials, vinegar and a toothpick or a cotton bud.

2. Soak the showerhead in a small bucket of water containing a mixture of vinegar for 30 minutes - 1
hour.  Then waste the vinegar.

3. Rinse showerhead under running water. Then turn on the shower for 30 seconds to remove residual of vinegar.

4. Clean the dirt in tiny holes where water comes out with a toothpick or a cotton bud.

Shower head should be cleaned periodically. A recent study revealed that dirty shower heads can cause effects that are bad for your health, one of which lung infection caused by bacteria.

As quoted from Max Health News, Monday (07/10/2013), the researchers said that dirty shower heads can spread harmful bacteria such as nontuberculous mycobacteria types (NTM). This bacterium is closely related to TB but more difficult to treat.
